Seljatjörn
Seljatjörn is a cherished outdoor area located in the middle of the Seljahverfi neighborhood in Breiðholt and is extremely popular among local residents. The pond is a beautiful man-made settling pond, where people often enjoy spotting sticklebacks and hopping across the stones that lead to a small island. Next to the pond is a public park featuring a garden pavilion and a playground for children. The grassy area is perfect for running around in play and then settling down for a picnic with snacks and a blanket. In summer, visitors can also delight in viewing the colorful flowers planted throughout the garden, enhancing the experience for everyone who comes. The environment is designed to bring joy and encourage social interaction among people of all ages. Nearby, there are residences for the elderly as well as schools. At Seljatjörn, visitors can also find the sculptures Móðir mín í kví, kví and Fýkur yfir hæðir by Ásmundur Sveinsson.
