Neshringur from Seltjarnarneslaug
A popular, flat running route around the Seltjarnarnes peninsula with unrivalled views of the coast and surroundings. The run starts at Seltjarnarneslaug and follows the peninsula past the area’s main landmarks. Along the way it passes Grótta, a protected bird sanctuary with a lighthouse, and runs along Bakkatjörn lake, home to varied birdlife year-round. By the shore stands the Kvika artwork, a foot bath by Ólöf Nordal where you can dip your toes in warm seawater. The route is about 5.4 km, mostly on asphalt and footpaths, making it fast and accessible for running. It is almost entirely flat and well lit, suiting everyone, whether for training or an easy jog. Note that Grótta is only accessible at low tide and is closed during the nesting season (1 May–15 July).
