Fossvogsdalur
This bike route begins at the sports area by Fagrilundur in Kópavogur, centrally located in Fossvogsdalur. Along the way, you'll pass interesting spots such as Hermannsskógur, Norræni vinalundurinn, Álfaskógur, and the Tree Museum in Meltunga at the eastern end of the valley. The area is rich in vegetation, and it's enjoyable to observe the environment along the route, watching the green shoots early in the spring and the vibrant colors in the autumn. Many bird species nest in the area, the birdlife is rather lively in the valley year-round, and it’s fun to see the resident bird species that choose to endure the winter in Fossvogsdalur.

The Arboretum in Meltunga is located at the eastern end of the valley, with planting efforts having started in 1996 and still ongoing. The arboretum now spans about 8 hectares and contains approximately 1,200 species, varieties, and cultivars of trees and shrubs, making it one of the most diverse collections in the country. A significant number of species are labeled with their Icelandic name, Latin scientific name, and family classification. Visitors can enjoy mindfulness while exploring various sections of the arboretum, including the Aspen Forest, the Delight Garden, the Orchard, the Evergreen Garden, and the Rose Garden. A large informational sign about the arboretum can be found near Kjarrhólar. The Rose Garden is the second rest stop along the route and features a diverse collection of roses. It offers a romantic atmosphere when the colorful roses are in bloom, which occurs from early July and lasts well into autumn. Close to the Rose Garden, there is also an informational sign about the Meltunga homestead.
