Maríuhellar

Maríuhellar in Heiðmörk refer to three caves located in Svínahraun, near the intersection of Flóttamannavegur and Heiðmerkurvegur. Previously used as sheep shelters or storage, they are the largest known caves within the capital region. Visiting the caves is an enjoyable experience, especially on clear days, but it is important to exercise caution and avoid damaging these delicate formations, as they are highly fragile.
