Lali and Reykjaborg
This is a short but powerful mountain run over two of Mosfellsbær's marked summits, Reykjaborg (286 m) and Lali (244 m), which rise above Hafravatn. The hills are neither high nor especially steep and are well suited to endurance training or as a change from Úlfarsfell. The route starts by a parking lot under Hafrahlíð follows a horse path until you come to a marked Forestry. Then the path winds its way upwards through forestry and on to the climb to Reykjaborg. Reykjaborgs summit offers wide views over Mosfellsbær, Esja and, in clear weather, all the way to Snæfellsjökull. The route then crosses to Lali, where a cairn marks the top and views open over Úlfarsfell, Reykjavík, Reykjanes and Bláfjöll. Mosfellsbær has marked the town's summits with posts showing name and height, and laid waymarked paths, many of them exemplary. Note that the marker poles reach Lali but the route between the summits can be indistinct in places, and there is a technical part of the path in a steep slope where you have to be carefull. The route is about 4.5 km with around 275 metres of ascent, making it a good strength and endurance workout despite the short distance. There path can easily be reversed for a steeper climb and a longer downhill run.
