Klambratún

Klambratún is one of the largest and most popular outdoor recreation areas in Reykjavík. It is located in the Hlíðahverfi neighborhood and is bordered by Hringbraut, Rauðarárstígur, Flókagata, and Lönguhlíð. The park covers about 10 hectares and has been an important gathering place since it was officially designated a public park in the 1960s. Klambratún is a beautiful green space where people come together to enjoy the outdoors and culture in the heart of Reykjavík. In the northern part of the park is Kjarvalsstaðir, which belongs to the Reykjavík Art Museum. There, works by Jóhannes S. Kjarval are exhibited, along with paintings and sculptures by renowned Icelandic and international artists. Klambratún boasts a wide range of recreational facilities. There are playgrounds for children, a disc golf course, basketball, football, and beach volleyball courts. The latest addition to the park is a climbing rock where both children and adults can try their hand at climbing. The park is also a popular destination for dog owners, and off-leash walking is allowed in the area known as Skálin between 9 and 11 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
