Hvaleyrarvatn

Hvaleyrarvatn is a beautiful lake surrounded by forest and vegetation. The area is ideal for outdoor recreation, with a walking path encircling the lake and numerous trails leading from the lake to the hills, through dense forests or moss-covered knolls. The Hvaleyrarvatn area is peaceful, making it perfect for unwinding after work or starting a new day with a rejuvenating morning walk. In recent years, the Hafnarfjörður Forestry Association has contributed to further development in the area with a tree-planting initiative. Convenient barbecue facilities make it an excellent spot for picnics in good company. On warm summer days, visitors can swim in the lake or sail small boats, and fishing is allowed for everyone. In winter, a cross-country ski track is laid on the lake, and the frozen surface is perfect for ice skating.
