Fossvogsdalur
Fossvogsdalur is one of the most frequented outdoor recreational areas in the capital region, marking the boundary between Kópavogur and Reykjavík. The valley features walking and cycling paths that connect the western parts of the capital area to its upper neighborhoods. The trail network is well integrated into the city's pathway system, providing easy access by bike or on foot to Nauthólsvík geothermal beach, the Kársnes shoreline, and Elliðaárdalur. The valley offers a wide range of recreational opportunities, including a popular beach volleyball court enjoyed by people of all ages and the Fagralundur sports complex, which provides various entertainment options. Additionally, the valley has a free-to-use disc golf course. In the eastern part of Fossvogsdalur lies an arboretum, where planting began in 1997, now featuring around 500 species of trees and shrubs. The "Yndisgarðurinn" (Pleasure Garden) is part of the arboretum, a collaborative project between the Municipality of Kópavogur, the Agricultural University of Iceland, and other partners. The garden includes community vegetable plots, barbecue facilities, and seating areas for visitors to enjoy.
